DANGER IN NICOTINE GUM & PATCHES
The safety of quit-smoking treatments has been thrown into doubt by the discovery that nicotine can promote the growth of cancer even when
it is not smoked. US research on mice shows nicotine given in water or by injection stimulates the growth of blood vessels and can encourage the
spread of tumors.
The Stanford University researchers say nicotine patches or chewing gum are "very good therapy", but warn they should not be used for long periods.
